Method of Use:

Surface Preparation:

Before applying Dseal BLACK SEAL, follow these steps for optimal results and to prevent failures:

1. Clean the surface thoroughly to remove dust, foreign matter, loose materials, and contaminants that could affect bonding.

2. Surface cleaning methods include scarifying, grinding, water blasting, sand blasting, or acid washing (use approved methods).

3. Vacuum loose solids and liquids if necessary.

4. Ensure that new flat surfaces (such as sub-base concrete) are reasonably smooth to facilitate coating application and avoid sharp projections.

5. The surface must be completely dry; no water or dampness should be present.

Surface Leveling:

• Fill surface cracks up to 5 mm width with Dseal Crack Aid 35 Paste.

• For cracks wider than 5 mm or separation gaps, use Dseal Latex 705 modified repair mortar or as specified.

• Prepare the repair mortar according to the recommended mix design.

Priming Coat Application:

1. After proper surface preparation and curing of repaired areas, clean the surface thoroughly and maintain it in a saturated surface dry condition.

2. Vacuum cleaning can be done if required to achieve a completely dry surface; moisture should be avoided.

3. Dilute Dseal Black Seal with clean water in a ratio of 2:1 (2 parts Black Seal to 1 part water) and stir thoroughly.

4. Using a brush or roller, apply the primer coat over the surface. Allow the primer coat to dry for 6-8 hours.

5. The primer coat acts as a bonding layer between the elastomeric coating and the treated surface.

Waterproofing Coating Application:

• After the primer coat is completely dried, apply two coats of Dseal Black Seal.

• It is recommended to apply the 2nd coat after the 1st coat is fully cured, usually maintaining a gap of 8 – 10 hours between successive coats of the membrane.

• For better results, use Fibre Mesh Reinforcement embedded into the 1st coat of Black Seal while it is still wet.

• Fiber mesh fabric serves as reinforcement to enhance tensile properties, especially for large area applications.

• Dseal Black Seal can be diluted up to 15% for the 1st coat and up to 10% for the 2nd coat to achieve workability and desired coverage.

• On vertical surfaces or walls, coating should extend up to a minimum height of 300 mm from the flat surfaces.

• Clean all brushes and tools with water immediately after use.

• Alternate coats are applied perpendicular to each previous coat to ensure complete surface coverage.

Method of Use:

Surface Preparation:

3. Treat areas affected by algae, moss, or fungal growth with a biocide wash solution.

Surface Leveling:

• Fill surface cracks up to 5 mm width with D-Seal Crack Aid 35 Paste.

• For cracks wider than 5 mm or separation gaps, use D-Seal Latex 705 modified repair mortar or as specified.

• Ensure a minimum roof slope of 1 in 100.

• In existing old terraces with brickbat coba or screeds, check substrate soundness and address any weak areas.

• Reinstate the surface with a bond coat slurry mix of D-Seal Latex 705 and cement (1:1 ratio) just before laying the polymer-modified mortar screed.

• Level the surface using polymer-modified mortar mixed with D-Seal Latex 705 (10-15% by weight of cement in a 1:3 cement-sand ratio).

Priming Coat:

• After proper surface preparation and curing of repaired areas, clean the surface well and maintain it in a saturated surface dry condition.

• Dilute D-Seal Roof Care Exceed 625 with clean water (2 parts coating to 1 part water) and stir thoroughly.

• Apply the primer coat using a brush or roller, maintaining a spreading rate of 9 – 10 m²/Litre/Coat.

• Allow the primer coat to dry for 4 - 6 hours.

• The primer coat acts as a bonding layer.

• D-Seal Roof Care – Exceed 625 (White Guard):

Waterproofing Coating Application (New & Old Surfaces):

• Stir the contents in the drum well prior to application.

• The application can be done with a roller or brush.

Application Steps:

1. After the primer coat is completely dried, apply two coats of D-Seal Roof Care Exceed 625. Dseal elastomeric coating

2. Using a brush or roller, apply the 1st coat of D-Seal Roof Care Exceed 625 coating without any dilution over the dried primed surface. Maintain a spreading rate of 2.0 – 2.1 m²/Litre/Coat.

3. After an interval of 6 – 8 hours, apply the 2nd coat of D-Seal Roof Care Exceed 625 coating without any dilution, maintaining the same spreading rate to achieve a dry film thickness (DFT) of about 450 - 500 microns.

4. For better results, embed non-woven fiber mesh fabric into the 1st coat of coating while it is still wet. The non-woven fiber mesh fabric reinforces tensile properties, especially for large area applications.

5. If required for large terrace areas, apply a 3rd coat of D-Seal Roof Care Exceed 625 using the same application rate as before, perpendicular to the 2nd coat.

6. For vertical surfaces, apply two coats of D-Seal Roof Care Exceed 625 or Wet Coat Classic 515 with a forced coverage of maximum 3.0 - 3.5 sq.mt/litre/coat.

7. Ensure that the coating extends up to a minimum height of 300 mm on the side and parapet walls.

8. Clean all brushes and tools with water immediately after use.

9. Alternate coats should be applied perpendicular to each previous coat to ensure complete surface coverage.

Curing:

• Allow the system to air cure for a minimum of 3 days for foot traffic and water pond testing.

• Conduct a ponding test by filling water up to 50 mm height for 72 hours post air curing to ensure a leak-free terrace.

• Ensure curing is complete before laying thermal insulation boards, mechanical protection, and other coverings.

• Note that low temperatures and high atmospheric humidity will slow down the curing rate, and vice versa.

Precautions & Limitations:

• Do not dilute the coating to achieve desired results.

• Avoid applying in direct sunlight or during rains or within 48 hours of expected rain.

• Always apply at pre-specified rates to achieve the recommended DFT for full coverage.

• Apply when the ambient temperature is between 10°C to 35°C.

• Do not apply to flat surfaces with poor drainage or where ponding water will exist.

• Avoid applying D-Seal Roof Care Exceed 625 over expansion or moving joints directly.

• Ensure all surfaces are structurally sound, clean, and free of dirt, oil, grease, concrete sealers, or curing compounds.

• Coat corners, gaps, joints, roof leak repair areas, and outlets with two extra coats as needed.

Note to the Applicator:

• Inspect and clean the coated surface bi-annually to maintain overall reflectivity properties.
